CDI announces publication of World Development Indicators and World Bank Atlas.
CDI announces the publication of the 5th edition of the World Development Indicators and 33rd edition of the World Bank Atlas, both products of the World Bank's Developmental Data Group. Since 1997 CDI has worked closely with the Developmental Data Group on the planning, design, editing, and production of both publications, and this year's editions provide excellent new features developed by CDI for readers.
World Development Indicators
The 2001 edition of the Indicators offers a new design for the six section introductions on major development issues and an enhanced user's guide. With its focus on the international development goals in the World view, this book tries to capture the most important issues facing developing countries: the health, education, and welfare of people; sustainable use of natural resources and the reversal of environmental losses; economic growth and management of the economy; the complementary roles of governments and the private sector; and the continuing integration with the world economy. This award-winning publication is the World Bank's flagship statistical reference, which provides an expanded view of the world economy for 148 countrieswith more than 80 statistical tables and 60 charts that offer a broad view of the development and condition of the world and its peoples. The publication is designed to organize the data into six thematic areas, all bearing a significant effect on global development.
World Bank Atlas
The 2001 edition of the Atlas is a publication that mirrors the design and theme of the World Development Indicators. Like the Indicators, the World view features the international development goals. A handsome and highly accessible design, the Atlas is printed in four colors with 22 maps and more than 60 charts that illustrate key world development trends. With text in English, French, and Spanish, the World Bank Atlas is an important reference and resource for schoolchildren, economists, policymakers, and others throughout the world.
Both publications are available at the World Bank InfoShop as well as through retail and Web-based booksellers. For more information on these publications, including how to order, visit http://www.worldbank.org/data.
